Iêda Figueiró has a BA degree in Social Anthropology from UnB (2016) and an MA degree in Social Anthropology from UFG (2021). In the course of the latter, she conducted an auto-ethnographic research, looking into her own trajectory as a travesti, anthropologist, and artist-activist, with a focus on her encounters and exchanges with other travesti creators and artists and their life epistemologies.
In this process, she took on the role of high school educator of Gender and Sexualities and was one of the producers of the Iyalodês Festival, the first trans art festival of Goiás, which has already had three annual editions since. In her art, she experiments with multiple media, such as the vast field of performance, collage, poetry, and music.
In 2019, at the 43rd Annual Meeting of the National Association of Post-Graduation and Research in Social Sciences (Anpocs), in Caxambu (MG), she exhibited part of the collage series “Selfragmentos e Trave(st)ssias” [Self-fragments and Trave(sti)rsing], which was created during her 2018-2020 Master’s, through a process of auto-ethnography. For this series, she was awarded a Special Mention by the event’s organizers.
Under the name Loucas Figueiras, the artist released her first EP in 2017, “Santa CDzinha do Pau Oco”, with original music. Recently, and under the name Figueira Infinita, she released the show “Sangue-Seiva Estrada-Veia”, with her latest compositions.
