Florydo fogo

São Paulo – SP, 1986

florydo fogo is a multimedia artist, performer, and theater director. He holds a degree in Visual Arts from the Faculdade Paulista de Artes, and in Contemporary Dance from the Grupo Experimental de Dança de Porto Alegre [Experimental Dance Group of Porto Alegre], as well as a degree in Theater Directing from the SP Theater School.

He has been a part of many study groups in dance and performative theater. His research also extends to the territory of the body in constant (trans)mutations. Moved by his trans and non-binary experience, florydo fogo investigates the frictions in structural, philosophical, and cultural relations in search of body-clashes and/or creators of resistance. As a Morrocan and Romani descendant, the artist engages, through his work, in a constant seeking for the return and for comprehension of his ancestrality which was, in part, revealed to him, and in another part, denied by colonial constructs.

In 2017, he took part in the DVERSA show at the Museum of Sexual Diversity (SP) and in the Artist’s Residency of Funarte. In the year before that, he was awarded the Performance prize of the Salão de Outono da América Latina. Currently,  in São Paulo, he runs the project Núclea de Pesquiza TranZborde, a territory and label for the development of research in theater, dance, and performance, which gathers various plural bodies.
