Belo Horizonte – MG, 1994

“As a body-frontier – with breasts and a beard –, and a body-cyborg – with @, email, and username – I use performance, installation, and video art to investigate the construction of identity in the 21st century”, says ciber_org about their production. With a degree in Arts from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, the artist creates performative and digital interactive works

Their artistic practices come from aesthetic investigations which are traversed by their experience as a non-binary and transgender person, having, as a starting point, central questions such as: “Does our selfie fragmented in different media cause an extension or a narrowing of our identity?” and “Which quality of contact is it possible for me to establish with the other within a 6.2” screen with a 2246×1080 pixel resolution?”.

In the last five years, they’ve been investigating the construction of identity in the 21st century from the analysis of usernames, @, email logins, and nicknames. For them, this data constitutes “identity prosthetics of a digital nature”. Also, in their @ciber_org  Instagram profile, they develop the project “Manifesto 01”: a series of lives-meetings to which they invite other trans people to share their experiences, with the theme FEMININE X MASCULINE “in an exercise of imagining a future that carries the prefix TRANS”, they conclude.

ciber_org is part of the “Rata” collective, which joins theater, music, and art in urban interventions, and they coordinate the Mostra ATRAQUE – Mostra de Experimentos Cênicos Trans [Mostra ATRAQUE – Show of Trans Theater Experiments], which is now going to its 4th edition.

They have participated in many shows, of which the most recent are: “Papo Dado Por Contato” (solo show), at Galeria da Escola de Belas Artes da UFMG [Gallery of the Fine Arts School of UFMG], in Belo Horizonte  (2019); “O Humano Digital: Reverberações” (group show) at Maristela Tristão Gallery, at Palácio das Artes, in Belo Horizonte (2019), and in the Virada Cultural festival of Belo Horizonte (2019). Also, the SESC-TV channel invited ciber_org to take part in the program Artérias and present their artistic creations.
